Detail: the letters T-H-E blend in with the architecture of the windows.
A text mounted on the glass facade of the CCHA (Cultural Centre of Hasselt) Hasselt, Belgium.
This is simultaneously the largest as well as the most invisible installation I have made so far. The sentence THE CAPITAL OF TASTE is ‘woven’ into the facade with black tape, by following the width of the window frames, thus merging completely with the architecture of the CCHA, designed in 1956 by Isia Isgour. Curated by Koos Flinterman.
THE CAPITAL OF TASTE is the English translation of the slogan which the town of Hasselt has appropriated for its city-promotion. In its English translation, the word Capital acquires the double meaning value system, unlike the Dutch word 'hoofdstad'.
