Installation originally made for the exhibition Manifesta 7, in the Palazzo delle Poste in Trento, in a former post office. It once held six huge stained glass windows by Futurist artists such as Fortunato Depero and Guglielmo (Tato) Sansoni. Now dissappeared, the commission for these windows was preceded by a long correspondence between the parties involved, in which admiration and irritation, respect and indifference, anger and dissapointment are elegantly expressed.
The work features a selection of these letters read by actors Ettore Distasio and Vittorio Vaccaro. Thanks to Andrea Wiarda and Mauro Perosin, the dedicated Manifesta7 team, Anselm Franke and Hila Peleg.
The former post office was designed by Architect Angiolo Mazzoni, the main architect for the fascist governement of Benito Mussolini. The bright colours selected by the architect are being rediscovered under white and grey layers of paint. The original blue facade was regarded as ‘too mediterranean’ by the inhabitants of Trento.
