By invitation of the Stedelijk Museum De Lakenhal in Leiden, The Netherlands, Barbara Visser has returned to Huis ten Bosch city in Japan, for a second view of the town assembled from elements of Dutch historical towns. In 2001 the artist produced the photo series A Day in Holland/Holland in a Day on the same location.

Visser: "During this encounter I fully realized how the experience of wandering through a Dutch historical town actually isn’t the main goal of the near-perfect setting of HTB City. It’s constructed first and foremost as a life-size backdrop for holiday snapshots that appear to have been taken in The Netherlands. Certain alterations in the copies of landmarks, such as widened or condensed dimensions, appear to be flaws at first sight, but engage in a refined play with scale, colour and contrast, anticipating an appearance on the digital camera screen. Old or new, in a picture there is little difference."
