First monograph featuring the works of Barbara Visser.
Texts by Jennifer Allen, Paul Elliman, Maria Grever, Jörg Heiser, Alexis Vaillant and Barbara Visser
Edited by Lisette Smits
Design by Mevis & van Deursen/ Felix Weigand
The authors were all given a set of obstructive rules: they were never to mention the artist Barbara Visser, and could not describe works in the past tense in their texts. Paul Elliman wrote about the untranslatable Dutch word 'er' from the title, which explains why the title of this book with just English text is in Dutch.
*with the exception of the artist and Maria Grever, by whom a longer version of the text 'The Choreography of Time' was accidentally found by Visser on the internet, which was edited and published.
The brief for the graphic designers of this publication was: 'The text should not be a description of the images and the images should not illustrate the text.'

The book starts as a textbook, with gaps where pictures could have been placed, as the captions at the bottom of the page indicate.
Halfway through, the pages start to count at 1 again and here the body texts are left out, and the pictures printed.
